DIY Whiteboard

{Hello Friends}

I am so excited to share today's project with you.

It is a DIY whiteboard made from a fluorescent light fixture.

Here it is after my husband took it off the ceiling and disassembled the ballast and wiring.

This light fixture has been in our kitchen for the past 10 years.
The light ballast broke so we will be replacing the entire fixture with an updated one.

Instead of throwing it away I thought this would make a great upcycle project.  The white plastic cover could be used as a dry erase board (whiteboard) and the wooden box would make a pretty frame or decorative window.

I thought I should experiment with the plastic before hanging it on the wall. I wrote on it with a dry erase marker and then wiped it off with a paper towel to see if this could work as a whiteboard. My experiment worked so I moved on to the next step ..... how to hang it???

I used these mounting dots

I placed three dots on the top and three on the bottom plus two on each side.
 I taped all around it using painters tape.  ( for an extra secure hold)  plus it won't damage the wall when I want to change it out.

To cover up the tape I used Black Grosgrain Ribbon.
 This frames it out and gives it that finishing touch.

In anticipation of spring, I wrote this simple Proverb......

 You can find it on my  Pinterest board along with other inspirational quotes.

Now I have a bit of  SPRING FEVER coming on.....
