Colorful and simple wreath

September 26, 2014,

Hi Friends
Welcome to the first full weekend of fall.

The leaves on the trees in our area are green with the exception of one maple tree at the end of our street.
The leaves are orange and when the sun shines on it, it is ablaze.
This beautiful maple inspired me to make this wreath.

I made my wreath using silk flowers, burlap, cardboard & antique sheet music. The letter N represents our last name. I constructed the letter using a stencil and antique sheet music.
I  used a hot glue gun to adhere the flowers to the wreath.

I cut the burlap into strips to make the mock bows.

The wreath is hanging on a repurposed hutch cabinet door that I recently painted.

You can read how I made the white pumpkin here
I made the orange and gray pumpkin from a shirt my daughter outgrew.  I plan on making more of these cuties.

Enjoy the weekend!

Mum Eye Candy

Calling All Mum Lovers

If you're wondering what colors to decorate your home for fall... take a cue from mother nature with these colorful mums.

In our neighborhood, we are surrounded by the bay, farms, and plant growers. This plant grower is down the street from where we live.  All the plants start as seedlings, over the course of the month they grow into flowering plants. When the mums reach their peek they are delivered to various large home improvement stores.

If you love mums you will enjoy looking at these beauties!!.

Early this morning I went for a walk and noticed most of the mums were packed up and ready to be delivered.

I knew it would be a matter of time before all these gorgeous mums were gone. When I got home I grabbed my camera and drove back to take these pictures.

Look At All These Beauties!

This is the view from the opposite side.  Look at all the pallets and gorgeous trees.
There is a sweet little cottage on the other side of the fence.

Next month all these trees will be in their fall glory...full of beautiful colors.

Here are the mums all wrapped up and ready for delivery.

I think I will buy...red, orange, and purple mums this year.
How about you?  Do you have a favorite color mum?
Which ones will you buy?

Plush Pumpkin

September 05, 2014, in ,

Hi Friends

Happy Friday!

Today I'm sharing how I made a plush pumpkin using a doll's hat.

I cleaned out my daughter's closet and found some of her dolls.  One of them was wearing this hat.
I thought it had the perfect shape to become a pumpkin.
I placed it on this bust so you can see how it looked before the transformation.

I cut off the pom-pom and saved it {of course} for another project.  Then I got to work stuffing it with batting and stitching around the top.

After I stitched the top I made a tight pull of all the extra material and stuffed it inside.
Now it has creases that resemble a pumpkin.

I used a branch found in my yard for the stem.

I cut the stem about an inch & wrapped it in burlap
And used this paint

Then I glued the stem on top of the pumpkin and wrapped twine around it.

Now I have a cute pumpkin to decorate for fall

Have A Great Weekend!!
