Hi Friends
I cleaned out my daughters closet and found some of her dolls. One of them was wearing this hat.
I thought it had the perfect shape to become a pumpkin.
I placed it on this bust so you can see how it looked before the transformation.
I cut off the pom pom and saved it {of course} for another project. Then I got to work stuffing it with batting and stitching around the top.
After I stitched the top I made a tight pull of all the extra material and stuffed it inside.
Now it has creases that resemble a pumpkin.
TOP
BOTTOM
I used a branch found in my yard for the stem.
I cut the stem about an inch & wrapped it in burlap
And used this paint
Then I glued the stem on top of the pumpkin and wrapped twine around it.
Now I have a cute pumpkin to decorate for fall
Have A Great Weekend!!

Very clever, Julie! I suspect that I have several pumpkins lurking around here, if I will only recognize them when I see them! Thanks for the tutorial.

Adorable! I should try this and avoid paying $5+ for a real white pumpkin this Fall!

ReplyDeleteFantastic! And very resourceful (my favorite approach), too. Also love how you styled your vignette.
ReplyDeleteCompletely creative. Love how you think. That little pumpkin is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteSo clever, love the softness of the pumpkin against the stem and the jute. Cool!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I love the creative idea, plus it would be so easy to knit little hats (in different colors if you wanted) to make more! I love how innovative you were to take a little hat and make it something new! Great makeover
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable! I have an old sweater that I've been making things out of, and now I might be using some of it for a cute pumpkin!
