Simply Seasonal Fall Home Tour

by Julie Nichols, October 05, 2016
Hello friends, welcome!  I'm so excited to be a part of the Simply Seasonal home style series! For the first part of the series, we will be sharing our tips on how to ready your home for fall. Thanks for stopping in from Roots North & South!  I just love Shelly's eclectic style.

Today I'm going to take you on a tour of two rooms; our dining room and kitchen.  The dining room is the room that gets the most seasonal attention and since the dining room is open to the kitchen, I thought I would share that as well.

HERE ARE MY FIVE TIPS TO MAKE YOUR HOME READY FOR FALL

ONE

USE NATURE

It's free and easy to find just outside your back door!  Bring the kids on a scavenger hunt and tell them they are searching for treasures. Display acorns and pine cones in mason jars and end of the summer hydrangeas in metal buckets.

You can shop for farmhouse decor here & here

TWO

 BRING ON THE TEXTURE

Baskets, burlap, metal, wood, fabric, and art are always a must when decorating!  The basket on top of the stainless steel cabinet adds texture and warms up the cool steel.  Baskets are a great way of organizing everyday clutter!

THREE

USE WHAT YOU HAVE or BUY ON SALE

Use what you already have or wait for clearance sales to buy seasonal accessories. I purchased the gold dipped candles last year on clearance & placed them in my wooden candlesticks.  I used a piece of burlap left over from a DIY project as a tablecloth & crinkled it to add interest.  The painting is from a consignment store that I purchased years ago. I just love the fall colors.
and
Flowers are always free when they're from your garden.

FOUR

HARVEST AND DISPLAY

The kitchen is the heart of your home.  Make it your happy place! Display fruits and vegetables with fall hues on your kitchen counter.  A hanging wall garden is a fun way to display seasonal flowers or herbs. Or you can simply place them in mason jars and display them on your kitchen counter or window sill.
Mums the word; you can never go wrong with mums. They are inexpensive and a great way to bring color inside your home.  Plus you can plant them outside and they will grow back year after year.

FIVE

AREA RUGS

Keep floors cozy for the cooler months ahead by layering them with area rugs.  I used a floral blue throw rug under my kitchen sink. Consider kilim & jute, they are both trending now!

I made the pumpkins and the market sign for our new mantel and shelves.
Pumpkins don't always have to be real.  I can use these cuties year after year.
