It is One Room Challenge Reveal day and I am beyond excited to share our new room with you! Let's recap for those popping in for the first time.  I chose the Guest Bedroom because it was the last room in the house to get a makeover.  Week 1 I shared my design plan and project list, week 2 was all about the preparation it takes to makeover a room, week 3 fixed the ceiling, primed and painted the walls, week 4 was all about my husband, week 5 was all about the floors, closet doors, my projects, playing around with art, rugs, and a mirror .

This was not an easy 6 weeks and I am not going to sugarcoat it. There were a lot of late nights, long weekends and some mishaps, but it was all worth it because I now have the room I envisioned.  I stayed true to my design plan and I am so happy with how our guest bedroom turned out!  How about I show you around...come on in.

A gold spray painted tray is a beautiful way to corral essentials and goodies to welcome guests.

The night table is one of my favorite roadside finds.
You can read how I refinished it in this post How to Remove Wood Veneer from Wood Furniture

The bottom shelf is a good spot for towels

I spray painted the consignment shop art frame navy blue.  A yard sale chair sits in the corner and is a comfy spot to sit and read

I purchased the compass wall art at the Christmas Tree Shop.
Similar wall art can be found here  METAL WINDMILL WALL CLOCK

Most of our budget went toward the materials to fix this room. I had very little left for the decor, so I decided to use my creative side and make my own art to hang on the walls.

I purchased the mirror at a yard sale and I spray painted the lampshade navy blue.  I made the STAY AWHILE sign, and the blue and white jewelry box.

I made this frame out of a cabinet door and placed one of my photographs inside. Here is the link Simple Repurpose of Cabinet Doors Into Frames

The bedside lamps are desk lamps purchased at Walmart from the BHG collection

ALSO

I purchased the cotton area rugs at Home Goods

Throw blanket TJ Maxx

Another purchase I made is the oblong decorative bird pillow purchased at Walmart from the BHG collection.

This dresser was a freebie  pulled from my neighbor's trash

I fell in love with the marble plant stand that I purchased at a consignment shop. As you can see it makes for a great nightstand for tight spaces.

I couldn't be more happy with the way the room turned out!  It is everything I envisioned plus more. Here are some before shots...I'd say this room came a long way... wouldn't you?

THANK YOU'S:  This room would never have come together in the six weeks, without the help from my husband who I love and appreciate so much!  Thank you, Linda, from Calling It Home for organizing the challenge!  And thank you, for following along and for your encouragement to keep me going.  Now I'm off to check out the twenty talented design blogger rooms as well as the other guest participants and you can too by clicking on The Guest Participant Link Page

  10. I wish there were like buttons on comments like on Facebook. Heehee. I clicked on your post about the side table just to see where you got the lamps and had to see your whole room. You did an amazing job and are very thrifty and creative. I hope Walmart still has that lamp.
